The magical power-source at the top of the structure is enchanted to emit a sort of cloaking field that hides the building or subliminally encourages folks to not be in the area. They construct their fantastical building mostly through arcane means like Stone Shape and maybe more mundane technologies. The puzzle that uses the runes I found in some other old adventure and tweaked it to fit.Īs for an adventure timeline, I sort of had it worked out like this:Ībout 5ish years ago: For some, unknowable reason, a group of Vinteralf (walrus-folk) from the Astral Sea set up an observation station buried within a glacier deep in the Storm Horn mountains. From there I sort of stitched together some NPCs and a story that would happily marry the two together. I got the map for Refuge from the Ventus Maps tumblr account that I follow. I originally picked it up from the people who run the annual One-Page Dungeon Contest. Sure! Here's a link to the PDF for the dungeon. Turning left, down the road, you exit the wooden gate posts of Refuge, certain that you'll always remember the brief time you spent among these folks and the mind-boggling adventure you shared in the mountains above. You pack your things and pick up a small food parcel from Armond on the way out of the Davy Lamp. It is your payment, as promised, as well as a hand written note from Merric, likely penned by Grassly, thanking you for all you have done and wishing you well on your adventures to come. In the morning, when you finally make it out of your rooms, you find a parcel waiting for you on a table near the bar. Many come to shake your hands, pat your backs, and give their thanks. "All hands to the kitchen! Tonight we celebrate!" All around cheers go up from the assembled mass of villagers. Normally there would be great festivities for an occasion such as this, but with our joyous temple in ruins, you'll have to forgive as we make do here with what we can." Looking over to the proprietor of the Davy Lamp, he says, "Armond! Make this a night we shall never forget!"Īrmond smiles widely and rushes over to the kitchen window, banging on the metal plate by the wall. By your words and deeds, our town will hopefully see many seasons free of the tribulations of the cruel and unforgiving dangers of our world. "You have done a wonderful thing for us then, and you have our thanks.
